I have updated the classroom calendar to show lunch/classroom volunteers. It is at the bottom of the blog. If you see an open spot and would like to come in, just let me know; we'd love to have you~

Off to a Great Start!

We have had a couple of great weeks. We are getting to know each other and practicing following procedures. This week in science we did several experiments following the Scientific Method. We learned scientists ask questions, develop hypothesis based on research, test their predictions, record their results, and draw conclusions based on their results. Let your child show you what we did (foil boat challenge, vinegar and baking soda balloons, and nail in the bottle). We are currently watching carnations in food-colored water in the classroom to see what will happen. The main idea of this week's investigations is that scientists use their 5 senses to make observations and if the same procedure is followed multiple times, you should get the same result. Encourage your child to develop their own experiments at home. Beware: they'll want to start with vinegar and baking soda!
