Off to a Great Start!
We have had a couple of great weeks. We are getting to know each other and practicing following procedures. This week in science we did several experiments following the Scientific Method. We learned scientists ask questions, develop hypothesis based on research, test their predictions, record their results, and draw conclusions based on their results. Let your child show you what we did (foil boat challenge, vinegar and baking soda balloons, and nail in the bottle). We are currently watching carnations in food-colored water in the classroom to see what will happen. The main idea of this week's investigations is that scientists use their 5 senses to make observations and if the same procedure is followed multiple times, you should get the same result. Encourage your child to develop their own experiments at home. Beware: they'll want to start with vinegar and baking soda!

Welcome to First Grade
Hi, my name is Mrs. Magyar and I am going to be your first grade teacher! Welcome to our class blog. What is a blog? Well, a blog is a place where we can share what we are learning with family and friends. We will be able to put pictures on here and write about what we are learning. This will be a special place where we will show how much we have grown this year.
If you are looking at this blog because you got my puppy postcard in the mail, please write a comment on our blog (with mom or dad's help) and tell me a little about yourself. What is your first name? What did you do this summer? What was your favorite thing about kindergarten?
Click on "comments" below and start typing, it's that easy! Also, click on the arrow below Kitty and she'll tell you a special message. You can view our class website by clicking the link below my picture.
I can't wait to learn all about you~
